Gorbachev was born on 2 March 1931 in the village of Privolnoye, Stavropol Krai.


Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev was a Russian and Soviet politician who served as the last leader of the Soviet Union.


By 1955 his hair was thinning and after the late 1960s he was mostly bald, a distinctive port-wine stain visible on the top of his head.


He spoke in a southern Russian accent, and was known to sing both folk and pop songs.

Gorbachev died at the Central Clinical Hospital in Moscow on 30 August 2022, at the age of 91.


He died after a "severe and prolonged illness," according to the hospital, having been under the continuous supervision of doctors since the beginning of 2020.


Gorbachev will be buried in Moscow's Novodevichy Cemetery next to his wife Raisa, who died in 1999, according to his will.
