Dallas Flooding

After torrential rains struck parts of northeastern Texas and sent floodwaters rushing through streets and homes, rescue crews fanned out across the region on Monday.

Heavy rain and flash flooding brought record rainfall to the Dallas-Forth Worth area between Sunday and Monday afternoon.

More than 9 inches fell at Dallas Forth Worth Airport over a 24-hour period that began Sunday.

It marked as the highest rainfall over that length of time that the area has seen since 1932.

It have found that warming temperatures increases the frequency of bouts of extreme precipitation.

The Dallas Fire Department alone has responded to hundreds of car crashes and other water-related emergencies since 6 p.m. on Sunday.

A multi-day heavy rainfall event is in progress over parts of the southern Plains that may produce instances of flash flooding in urban areas and places with poor drainage.
