The new 2024 Blazer EV is anticipated to debut next summer, priced from about $45,000 to $66,000.
On Monday, General Motors announced its new electric Chevrolet Blazer that will rival Ford’s Mustang Mach-E and Tesla’s Model Y crossover electric vehicle.
The vehicle marks an important launch for the Detroit automaker as it attracts more mainstream attention to EVs.
In roughly a year, GM expects the electric, completely autonomous car model to make its way to showrooms. A base Blazer will run about $45,000 while a performance variant, the “SS,” will cost $66,000. The SS will generate up to 557 horsepower and 648 pounds-feet of torque.
The crossover should go from 0-60 mph in less than 4 seconds, which is comparable to the Model Y Performance and Mach-E, which are able to reach 60 mph in less than 3.5 seconds.

The Blazer EV’s features and capabilities will vary depending on the model. The electric range of the vehicle will be 247 to 320 miles depending on the variant. It will also offer a police-oriented version based on the SS model, officials said.
The new Blazer EV will be built at GM’s Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico, where the traditional Blazer is built.
It shares the Blazer name and plant with an internal combustion engine vehicle, but is completely different in terms of design, performance, and appearance. The EV is based on GM’s new Ultium platform, which will be used for its next-generation electric vehicles.
In a media event, Chevrolet Vice President Scott Bell said: “It has the Blazer name and vibe, but there is nothing in common between these two vehicles.”
Blazer EV models will come in front- or rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations. The interior of the vehicle is also different from its traditional counterpart, with a driver-focused cockpit featuring a 17.7-inch-diagonal touchscreen and an 11-inch-diagonal display for driving information.
Chevy’s Blazer EV will be its fourth electric model when it arrives in showrooms next year. It currently sells the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV with the company’s old battery technology. Until next spring, Chevrolet will only have limited electric Silverado for sale. GM is also expected to unveil an electric Equinox, which is expected to start at around $30,000.
Typical starting prices for the standard 2022 Blazer with an internal combustion engine start at about $35,000 to $43,000.
