Will Pete Alonso make it three Home Run Derby titles in a row? Or will another slugger send more baseballs over the fence at Dodger Stadium on Monday?

New York Mets first baseman Alonso won the HRD in 2019 and 2021 (the All-Star Game was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic). But this year’s competition is tough.

Here’s everything you need to know about betting on the Home Run Derby during the All-Star Game, including odds and picks from FOX Bet’s betting expert. For more baseball news, check out the MLB website on FOX Sports.

The Home Run Derby is MLB’s equivalent of the NBA’s Slam Dunk Contest — a contest held the day before the All-Star Game that is just as popular, if not more so, than the game itself.

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, who leads the majors with 31 homers, and Angles pitcher/hitter Shohei Ohtani, who has 19 homers and is the new favorite to win AL MVP, will not participate, but the event will be a must-see event. for baseball fans (and gamblers).

The interest that draws attention is Rodriguez, the Mariners’ outfielder. Two rookies have won HRD directly – Judge in 2017 and Alonso in 2019. The Mariners are hot right now, can Rodriguez continue the magic?

Or is the old man in Pujols watching you? Big Albert, 42, is in his second stint with the Cardinals after spending 10 seasons in Los Angeles with the Angels (2012-21) and Dodgers (2021).

Pujols has 685 home runs, fifth all-time and the leader among active players.

Home Run Derby Recap: Pete Alonso recaps the electric 'Flippin' Bats' performance

Ben Verlander is on pace for the 2021 Home Run Derby moments after Pete Alonso took home his second straight home run. Ben explains how the lights are going in Denver where Shohei Ohtani, Alonso, and others put their offensive skills.

FOX Bet affiliate Steven Hemke likes Schwarber’s chances of dethroning Alonso’s Home Run Derby titles. Schwarber has more power as he has 16 hits in 18 games in June 2021 for the Washington Nationals.

Schwarber, whose 28 home runs are the most by any Derby participant, is seeded first and will face eighth-seeded Pujols in the first round.

“Schwarber has a good lefty swing to win this tournament,” Hemke said. “Not only does he hit bombs over 450 feet to entertain the crowd, but he has a powerful, easy swing that should get him going late when others tire.”

If you’re looking for a long shot, Hemke said he wouldn’t be surprised if Seager pulls off a surprise. Seager opens the tournament against Rodriguez, the only rookie participating in the All-Star Game.

“Good price on Seager here. A former Dodger back in his park should give him extra motivation to do well,” Hemke said. “I also think that the talented youngster that he faces in Round 1 (Rodriguez) can feel the nerves, allowing Seager to advance in the pole.”

Hemke’s choice of a player whose swing will be talked about the most is Acuna Jr.

“I feel like we can expect a 500-foot shot from a kid, and he has the ability to do it,” Hemke said.
