Inclusive fall sports league launches in the Valley

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – Local athletes with disabilities are now able to play baseball throughout the year thanks to a partnership based on the Valley.

The Harrisonburg Little League Association (HLA) has partnered with Empowerment3, a charitable organization. This year, spring and summer baseball programs have grown to include the first fall league.

As he grew up with a brain disorder, Empowerment3 CEO Tom Moran had no chance of getting a chance to exercise.

“In my hometown there was a small League program, but I was not allowed to play because my staff was considered a weapon,” said Moran.

Now, Moran is working to make the stadium a haven for professional runners. Empowerment3 supports every athlete and college student to ensure safety and support on diamonds.

The program hopes to offer two different teams, one for children over the age of six for senior athletes.

“Knowing that we can make this opportunity means a lot to me,” Moran said. “Come out and let us show you the skills you have … that you may not have realized.”

Fees are $ 25 per person and tuition is available upon request. More about Empowerment3 can be found here and interested people can sign up for baseball baseball here.
